A practical walkthrough of the setup behind Tanya’s own short-stay properties. This is a description of the workflow, not a claim of measured revenue increases or time savings.
Different properties. One organised workflow.
A central Christchurch apartment, a four-bedroom Somerfield home and a two-bedroom Wānaka apartment need different guest information. Bed layouts, parking, stairs and seasonal amenities are recorded for each property rather than copied between listings.
1. Keep the booking details together.
Hostaway brings connected reservations and calendars into a clearer view. Booking rules and guest-facing listings still need checking on each channel: a connected calendar alone does not prove every price, discount or restriction matches.
2. Prepare guest information before it is needed.
Booking, arrival and departure information is prepared around the property. Scheduled messages cover repeat questions; unusual requests and issues still need a person’s judgement. Host Assist owners choose whether to reply themselves, oversee our replies or leave messaging with us.
3. Give changeovers a clear handover.
Cleaner access to booking and changeover details helps the team plan its work. Host Assist coordinates the chosen cleaner and laundry company; the owner pays each provider directly. Existing teams can stay in place, or owners can ask about provider connections.
4. Keep visibility and income with the owner.
Owners receive a Hostaway login for bookings, occupancy and financials. Booking payouts go directly to owners under their platform arrangements. The three routine service invoices are Host Assist, cleaning and laundry.
What this looks like for your property.
We review your channels, property information, messaging preferences and local team before setup. The fixed monthly fee is NZ$500 including GST per property, with 0% Happy Hideouts booking commission. Onboarding starts at NZ$300 + GST for three hours. Call-outs and third-party costs are separate.
